The rise of the Sacramento Bee. The story of the man who built the Bee into a national powerhouse up and down the Valley from the late 1800’s. A close personal friend of Hiram Johnson, and William Jennings Bryan, his European articles inspired our City of Trees street canopy, and helped break the Central/Southern Pacific monopoly in supporting the arrival of Western Pacific, ultimately succeeded by his influential daughter Eleanore.
