About the Event
Powers's father Albert Gallatin built the Historic Governor's Mansion where she lived as
a young girl. She went on to be an avid painter in the California Impressionist
movement. Along with her husband, Frank H. Powers, she went on to found Carmel-by-
the-Sea. In 1920, after the untimely death of her husband, she decamped for Europe,
and spent the rest of her days in Europe where she became a Modernist Painter of
some renown.
