Sacramento Area Consortium

About the Network

The SacArea History Network, formed in 1993 as a committee of the Sacramento County Historical Society, is a consortium of historical, ethnic, cultural and related organizations from Sacramento and adjoining areas. It was created as a forum for local organizations with interest in local history to meet and to share and exchange thoughts and ideas. Membership consists of over 30 organizations, and meetings are quarterly. Dues of $25 are assessed every 1-2 years, as needed to support expenses such as mailings.

Projects past and present include:

Networking, the major goal of the organization
Worked with Convention and Visitors Bureau on a brochure of historical sites in Sacramento County
Publication of information on the history of areas within the County
Assisting in the publicity of events by the members
Master list of publications by member organizations
